Natural Lipsticks – Silk Naturals (Giveaway!)

**This giveaway is now closed**

You know how sometimes you just need a treat? Maybe you’ve had a hard day, or you want a little something to look forward to?

You’re not gonna go shopaholic-crazy, spending tons of money. You don’t want to feel guilty about buying it, like you would with a pricier item. You just need a little… something?

That’s where Silk Naturals lippies come in. They’re about 5$-6$ each, a total no-brainer! Lots of color choices so you can get lost browsing… and choosing can be half the fun, am I right?

Most Silk Naturals lippies come in a black lip balm tube with a sticker on it, so if you’re all about luxury and packaging, this might not float your boat. But make no mistake: these suckers are just as good quality as any high-end lipstick. They’re small and light, just throw ’em in your bag and go. Plus they’re inexpensive enough to take a risk on that daring color you’ve been meaning to try – vampy burgundy anyone?

Silk Naturals doesn’t offer samples on most items, but if you’re unhappy with a product you can send it back for store credit.

The owner, Karen is super helpful and responsive so if you have a question about a color choice or anything at all, she’s very quick to respond and gives good advice.

Silk Naturals Lippies Swatches | Makeup Detox

After prepping these photos I realized Crazy Love, Hibiscus and Mango are no longer available – I got those a while ago. They come out with new colors every season so I guess they got retired but trust me; there’s no shortage of color options.

I’ve been really enjoying Betty and Clandestine – both have a girlish, slightly 50’s vibe.

You can filter categories in the left sidebar of their site to show only vegan products or dye-free, etc. Some of their products do have dyes but they only use food-grade dyes. I don’t eat dyes but since most of my products are dye-free, a couple here and there is fine by me. Even so, they have lots of dye-free options with saturated colors.

There’s a rating system at the bottom of each color description: pay special attention to the opacity as some colors are more saturated (like Eternal or Vroom) and others more sheer (like Betty).

Silk Naturals has a cult-like following, so… will you join the cult? Find Silk Naturals lip products here.

Non-toxic kisses,

Great choices, I’ve been wearing Betty a lot lately. Mango isn’t available anymore – I swatched all the Silk Naturals I had without realizing this is an expired color, but you can check out all their peach and coral lippies here: http://bit.ly/1deWqF3 . I’m sure there’s a similar shade. 🙂

I use SN’s skin care line almost exclusively. I have very sensitive, 44 year old skin. I suffer not only from adult acne, but rosacea, and allergies. Talk about difficult! What I love about the skin care line is the short list of effective ingredients. The longer the ingredients list, the more likely that there will be something for me to react badly to. Even my dermatologist was impressed when I took everything in to make sure that I was using the right products for my skin troubles.

I buy the skin care items because I need them, but end up buying the eye shadows because I love them. They are affordable, complex, long-lasting, and again, never set off my skin problems. I especially love the dupes because often the ‘high end’ companies use Bismuth Oxychloride, which is a big trigger for my rosacea. The only way I can wear those colors is by buying the SN version.

I have only tried two lippies so far, and I must say that the Smooth and Full Black Label Lip Treatment is squirreled away in every room of my house. I won’t leave home without it. If you have mature skin and dry lips, give it a try!

Thanks for the tip! You know, I haven’t tried their skincare yet. And you’re right- many of the mainstream mineral makeup companies use bismuth oxychloride which is actually quite irritating. Glad you found a solution.

I haven’t tried Silk Naturals yet! I love the way that Eternal looks in your swatch!

Angela January 17, 2014

I love Silk Naturals and have a lot of their products, but have yet to try their new lippies. Fashionista and Eternal have been calling my name for a while.

Reply

Michele January 20, 2014

Hi Angela, They’re both really wearable. Fashionista is a bit of a warmer rose while Eternal is a bit cooler and subdued – I tend to wear Eternal if I’m doing a smoky eye.

Silk Naturals is one of those shops that’s been on my “must try soon!” list for ages, but I still haven’t gotten around to purchasing yet.Silly me! And now the longer I go without buying the longer my Silk Naturals wishlist gets, haha.

Reply

Michele January 20, 2014

Haha, yes well it’s nice because they’re so affordable you can get several and it costs the same as buying one lipstick from another company!
